23 CAPF, state police take part in national level event

Jammu, February 08 (KNO) : Advisor to Governor, KK Sharma Friday said that the Jammu and Kashmir police have been playing a pivotal role in maintaining peace in the state besides organizing national and international sports events. The advisor was speaking at the closing ceremony of 19th All India Police Band Competition 2018 organized by J&K Police here. DGP J&K Dilbag Singh, Additional Director General All India Police Sports Control Board, JP Nanda, ADGP Law & Order, Security Muneer Khan, ADGP Armed Arun Choudhary, IGP Jammu M K Sinha, retired police officers, senior police, army and officers from civil administration were present on the occasion. Around 23 teams comprising Central Armed Police Force and State Police from across the country took part in the national level event from held from February 5 – 9, 2019. The Advisor said that such type of events provides an opportunity to the belt force personnel to interact with each other and generates a spirit of camaraderie in them. He said that these types of competitive events also bring the best of the creative talent among the bands of the police and different belt forces, which is a reflection of their artistic talents as well. The advisor while complementing the Jammu and Kashmir police for carrying out diverse activities besides the role mandated to them said that they have been at forefront of organizing events of national and international level besides competing at various sports fora nationally as well as globally. While enumerating the initiatives undertaken by the government for welfare of the police personnel, the Advisor said that more are in offing which would ensure that the concerns of the force are resolved. Speaking on the occasion, DGP J&K Dilbag Singh gave a historical overview about the development of bands and also a brief overview about the competition and participating teams. He said that 7 teams of Central Armed Police Force and 16 teams from different State Police took part in the 19th All India Police Band Competition 2018 organized by J&K Police for second time. He also thanked All India Police Sports Control Board for giving them a chance to host this prestigious national level event in the state. The Advisor also released a souvenir on the occasion and distributed awards among the winning teams. Band of CRPF was adjudged overall best, whereas Jammu Kashmir police was declared as winner of Brass Band, Maharashtra police as winner of pie band, CRPF as winner of Bugle call category.(KNO)
